The Spanish Government, under the command of the Troika (the IMF, the ECB and the European Commission) and using the deficit as an excuse, has developed a plan in order to reduce expenditure by removing redundant public organisms, mainly at regional and local levels. A further step towards the demolition of the Spanish (and European) welfare state.

This is my first collaboration with La Isla de los Delfines (The Dolphins Island), a Spanish environmental blog edited by a couple of fellow biologists. The cartoon tries to picture the effect of current austerity measures on Spanish science.
